Objectives of the Program:
The UNFPA Internship Program offers the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to UNFPA operations. It is designed to complement the studies with practical experience in various aspects of UNFPA work.
Applicants should have expressed interest in the field of administration and HR; ability to adapt to new environments and work with individuals from different cultural backgrounds. Intern will work under the supervision of a staff member at UNFPA.
Qualifying for an Internship:
Candidates for the internship programme are selected on a competitive basis. The profiles of the interns are matched with the needs of the organization. The following qualifications are required for consideration:
• Students should be enrolled in an advanced degree programme or have recently graduated;
• Students must have written and spoken proficiency in English;
Responsibilities:
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individuals’ background as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Assisting with the recruitment processes
• Assisting with information management and database population
• Assisting with sorting, organizing and consolidating records, communications, and reports in order to have clear institutional memory.

The United Nations Core Competencies include:
• Communication: Ability to draft clearly and concisely, good written and oral language skills.
• Teamwork: Good interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from different national and cultural backgrounds to achieve organizational goals.
• Client Orientation: Considers all those to whom services are provided to be ‘clients’ and seeks to see things from clients’ point of view.

Working time: 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week
Interns do not receive a salary or any other form of remuneration from UNFPA. UNFPA PSB will pay a stipend of $90 per week/ $360 per month to cover transport and lunch costs. The costs associated with an intern's participation in the programme must be assumed either by the nominating institution, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students, or by the students themselves, who will have to meet living expenses as well as make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and other requirements. In addition, applicants must have medical insurance for the duration of the internship. Proof of insurance will need to be submitted before the internship begins.
Please note that only students enrolled in University programmes on the internship starting date or recently graduated are eligible applicants. Non-EU Students and EU students are expected to already have residence permits issued by Danish authorities. UNFPA shall not process any permits nor pay travel costs to Denmark.
