Major duties and responsibilities
Working with Senior Communications & Advocacy Adviser, the intern will provide support to humanitarian communications. The intern’s duties fall into three main areas:
Supporting the production of the 2017 UNFPA Humanitarian Action Overview
Reformatting Situation Reports for the UNFPA website
Supporting the development of printed and online content, including the Quarterly Humanitarian Newsletter
Organizing humanitarian communication documentation including archiving
Undertake any other duties as requested by supervisor
Qualifications
· Academic background and knowledge in areas such as communications, web design, and media.
· Experience in communications and working in international environment
· Fluency in English, working knowledge of another UN language desirable
· Knowledge and experience with websites and Google Drive
· Ability to think and work logically with attention to detail
· Ability to write clearly and concisely
· Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members of different national and cultural backgrounds
Learning Elements
· Increased understanding of UNFPA’s work and the UN system
· Increased knowledge of humanitarian operations in an international environment
· Increased knowledge of issues related to population and development, sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence
· Meeting and networking with UNFPA colleagues in other units Working as a team member in a multicultural setting
