Purpose of consultancy:
In order to strengthen the capacities of UNFPA staff to deliver a strategic, predictable and measurable response during emergencies, UNFPA is developing a roster of consultants to facilitate trainings of staff, standby partner rosterees and external practitioners on UNFPA’s emergency roster. Training will include (but are not limited to) surge capacity deployment training, emergency preparedness and response, minimum preparedness action, gender based violence in emergencies, and a simulation exercise.
Scope of work:

The consultancy has the following objectives:
Develop/update existing training curriculum and content relevant to the specific training
Development of role plays, work groups, and exercises for participants prior to on-site training, according to adult learning methodology as appropriate
Develop case studies and simulation exercise based on UNFPA’s role in emergencies and based on the latest relevant publications and policies such as UNFPA revised standard operating procedures, and other relevant institutional/humanitarian policies and processes [FR1]
Facilitate training; facilitation duties may include preparation of the agenda, facilitating some training sessions, leading the simulation exercise (including logistics support) and liaising with all resources persons, adapting material based on particpants’ level and feedback, participants’ feedback, belbin/leadership assessment, reflection modules and other sessions as required
Duration and working schedule:
Up to 24 days per training
Place where services are to be delivered:
Home-based, including travel to selected locations for the surge trainings as required
Delivery dates and how work will be delivered (*e.g.* electronic, hard copy etc.):
Work will be delivered electronically and/or in person, as the specific training requires.
Monitoring and progress control, including reporting requirements, periodicity format and deadline:
§ Final Agenda for workshop – final agenda and content relevant to the specific training to be delivered 20 days in advance of the workshop
§ Training material as necessary
§ Case studies and simulation exercise– final product to be delivered 10 days in advance of the training
§ Training reports– final product to be delivered within 6 days after the workshop
Supervisory arrangements:
The consultant will be under the overall management of the Chief, HFCB and under the direct supervision the Surge Manager and GBV Capacity Development Specialist.
Expected travel:
To the training location as required
Required expertise, qualifications and competencies, including language requirements:
Professional experience in humanitarian response contexts especially with the United Nations agencies especially with a protection focus
Adult learning Training and facilitation experience in different background/settings
Experienced in designing and facilitating humanitarian trainings, including surge training
Desirable knowledge and experience on GBViE training and coordination
