The Digital-Social Media Communication Analyst position is located in the Media & Communications Branch of the Division of Communications and Strategic Partnerships (DCS) and reports directly to the Public Information Adviser in the media-outreach team. The incumbent is responsible for various activities related to digital and social media communications.
Job Purpose:
An organization’s reputation management and brand development is no longer limited to its own digital platforms and traditional media outreach. Positioning of UNFPA with new audiences, speaking with One Voice and improving the Fund’s digital and social media communications are priorities and central components in the new communications strategy of the organization endorsed by UNFPA’s Executive Committee in 2012. Starting in 2009, UNFPA intensified its digital and social media activities, focusing on reaching out to influential news sites, creating and maintaining UNFPA's very first youth community, building UNFPA's and the Executive Director’s presence on digital and social media platforms like The Huffington Post, Facebook and Twitter, supporting regional and country offices in social media outreach and running of major social media campaigns.
The purpose of the position is to ensure UNFPA’s position as a thought leader on our key issues, by:
- Positioning of UNFPA and its experts on leading digital media platforms;
- Effectively managing UNFPA’s outreach to digital media and coordinating the Fund’s existing social media platforms (Facebook, twitter, Google+, ED’s blogs and social media profiles);
- Engaging new audiences and sustaining existing stakeholders by developing and supporting new digital and social media initiatives, collaborations and campaigns.
