Within the framework of UNFPA's response to COVID-19, the UNFPA regional office for Latin America and the Caribbean seeks to develop virtual training tools on gender-based violence in order to strengthen prevention and response to GBV in the region and ensure responses focused on survivors.
In the LACRO region, UNFPA will develop virtual courses on Gender-Based Violence in accordance with the learning needs and capacity-building requirements of different user groups.
UNFPA LACRO will guide and support the process of deploying digital training platforms to strengthen regional capacities in GBV case management, psychosocial support and construction of safe spaces for women and girls. In this context, UNFPA seeks to employ an individual contractor with extensive work experience in GBV and in training processes and professional training.
The contractor:
- It will adapt the materials (description of the training modules, exercises, power point presentations, scripts to develop role plays, quizzes ...) based on the contents of the interagency manuals for GBV training and for Psychosocial Support integrated in GBV from face-to-face modality to the virtual modality / distance training
- He will lead the development of the creation of additional multimedia training material and adaptation of the GBV prevention and response manuals to prepare virtual courses on gender violence.
- It will provide suggestions and guidance on the course content, creating quizzes and content exercises to facilitate the learning of skills necessary to provide services focused on the survivor.
- The consultant will work in close coordination with the UNFPA LACRO GBV team (the GBV Coordinator, the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Specialist (SMAPs), and the VBGiE Specialist).
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and adapt the contents for the virtual course in VBG;
- Provide recommendations on how to adapt existing face-to-face training to the virtual / distance learning format;
- Create exercises, case studies, tests and questionnaires suitable to facilitate the learning of technical knowledge and soft skills to provide specialized services to survivors through virtual training;
- Provide contributions and technical suggestions for the creation of the training material, suggesting strategies to carry out a participatory and integrated training.
- Ensure that virtual training responds to the principles and global guidelines of UNFPA and interagency on GBV as well as Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (SMAPs)
- Upload the content to the Google Classroom online platform.
- Support UNFPA to test / test online training on the Google Classroom platform.
The products of the consultancy must be delivered electronically to the UNFPA Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean located in Panama. Service station: remote (from home), preferably in Latin America, or within the time zone of the Americas region. Travel is not expected to carry out this consultation. The consultant will work from home, so they must have their own operational capabilities (office, information and communication technology).
Required experience, qualifications and competencies, including language requirements:
Bachelor's and Master's degree / specialization in social work or other social sciences, public health, community health, psychology, international relations, international law, human rights, or
related fields .
- 3 to 6 years of experience working on gender violence, preferably in a humanitarian context.
- Basic experience in GBV case management
- Basic experience in Psychosocial Support integrated in GBV and in humanitarian emergencies.
- Experience in designing training activities on topics related to GBV, such as workshops and courses
- Experience in creating guidelines, documents, guides on GBV;
- Desirable experience in designing and managing e-Learning materials and courses, managing eLearning platforms and knowledge, and developing or assisting in the delivery of online distance learning courses;
- Knowledge of Google classroom or other similar virtual platforms is desirable.
- Excellent planning and organization skills;
- Experience in designing and managing GBV programs in an NGO (recommended).
- Native level Spanish proficiency with the ability to write clearly and accurately;
- Knowledge of intermediate English.

- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of a multisectoral response to gender-based violence (includes health, psychosocial support, security and legal response).
- Understand the principles of GBV case management (Case management) according to Inter-agency guidelines and can apply them to GBV response programs.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current GBV prevention theory and identifies and applies appropriate GBV prevention and behavior change strategies at different stages of the humanitarian response.
- Know, adapt and apply key GBV tools to the context, including GBV Interagency case management guidelines, UNFPA Safe Space Guidelines;
- Know the competencies that GBV case managers must demonstrate to provide a survivor-centered service;
- Knows the skills that officials implementing GBV response programs must put into practice and knows creative and effective techniques to facilitate their learning;
- Understand and apply adult learning concepts to develop GBV staff capacity.
