Organizational Setting
The Position:
The main objective of the position is to improve and align UNFPA’s backend supply chain data. This involves creating database tables and ensuring completeness and accuracy of information contained in the UNFPA Procurement Services Branch business operation and Global Family Planning Visibility and Analytics Network (GFPVAN) platform.
You will report directly to the IT Specialist in the Procurement Services Branch (PSB). The incumbent of the position will also work closely with external RHI Data Provider Organizations, Regional Teams, Contracting Teams, and Team leads.

Job Purpose:
A strategic focus of UNFPA is to increase the availability and use of high-quality supply chain data for decision making. The incumbent will play a key role as a technical expert to identify, design, and implement solutions to address complex challenges in commodity availability. In doing so, the incumbent will design and develop database tables, views and stored procedures for UNFPA Supply Chain related data required by business, not only restricted to internal data but all relevant external supply chain data to support management decisions, strategic business requirements, and the development of supply chain solutions, such as control towers for improved supply chain decision making at the global and country levels, namely Global Family Planning Visibility and Analytics Network (GFPVAN). This position offers a unique opportunity to deepen knowledge of what it takes to ensure sustained availability of contraceptives and other Family Planning (FP) commodities in low and middle income countries; and to engage with diverse stakeholders such as donors, multilateral organizations, foundations, and the private sector on high-profile supply chain initiatives.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
You would be responsible for:
· Design and develop reports, analytics, database tables, views and stored procedures for UNFPA Supply Chain related data required by Business. Identify, investigate, and resolve issues with supply chain data through interfacing with external partners, PSB IT team, Regional Teams and Team leads as applicable.
· Document existing data transformation rules and liaise with the IT team to obtain non-technical specification and description for recording purposes.
· Perform regular and systematic data flow and quality audits on the supply chain data. Investigate source data from the ERP, Order Tracking System/Order Management System, external data providers, against the existing internal data transformation rules.
· Contribute to the development of new data transformation rules.
· Log all reported problems and own data issues related to supply chain data quality problems (both for data from internal and external sources).
· Liaise with GFPVAN stakeholders and solicit feedback in order to understand Reproductive Health (RH) community’s requirements.
· Assist in the testing of the functionality of the GFPVAN platform.
· Suggest enhancements of the GFPVAN platform for better adherence to the requirements of larger RH community.
· Assist in supporting GS1 implementation of the IT component of the standard that includes product master data management, product and package identification management, and product master data and transaction data exchange.
· Assist in supporting GS1 implementation through business-to-business Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) surrounding connectivity transport protocols, EDI translators, master and transaction data mapping technologies.
Key Outcomes:
· Documentation of existing data transformation rules.
· Maintenance and Development of new data transformation rules.
· Development of reports, data analytics, data tables, view and stored procedures based on new data transformation rules.
· Coordinating with GFPVAN to ensure data alignment using ETL (Extract Transform Load) based tools, data exchange formats like XML, CSV, web service etc.
· Coordinating with PSB SPC & IT, GFPVAN and others partners on the IT components listed above for a successful GS1 implementation.
· Carry out any other duties as may be required by UNFPA leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
· Completion of Secondary education is required.
Knowledge and Experience:
· Six years or more of relevant work experience in data analytics (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server, database objects like Stored Procedures, Views and ODBC, Microsoft VBA macros, ETL). Note that an Advanced University degree (or equivalent: i.e. CPA, ACCA, Jurist Doctor, etc.) in IT management, Public Health, Public and Business Administration in combination with 4 years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of 6 years of experience.
· Experience in working with international procurement and logistics or business operations is an asset
· Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel (in particular, applications related to database and data analysis), ERP systems such as PeopleSoft or alternatively Oracle backend table design, Microsoft SQL database, and other software applications is an advantage**.**
· Any other experience or knowledge with ETL tools like Microsoft SSIS, Talend etc. is desirable.
Languages:
Fluency in English is required;
Knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably French and/or Spanish, is desirable.
