Who we are:

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the world's largest international source of funding for population and reproductive health programmes. The Procurement Services Branch (PSB) provides low cost, high quality reproductive health commodities worldwide. It is located in Copenhagen, Denmark and services UNFPA offices, UN Agencies, as well as Governments and NGOs. The PSB Strategic Procurement Cluster (PSB SPC) is a key department within PSB, responsible for various contracting activities, e.g. procurement, contracting, contract management, monitoring and reporting on supplier performance, managing supplier relationship, analyzing global market development/trends and procurement history for segments of institutional goods and services supplied for UNFPA’s programs, operations and external clients in order to develop accordingly procurement approaches.

UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA’s new strategic plan (2018-2021), focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end unmet need for family planning; and end gender-based violence and harmful practices.

The PSB SPC is seeking intern(s) that support the transformative results and contribute to deliver programme results. The Intern(s) reports to the Contracting and Administrative Associates of PSB Strategic Procurement Cluster.

The PSB SPC seeks applications from University students in order to offer an Internship for a period of 2 months.

Duties:

The selected Intern(s) will be located in Copenhagen. She/He will be assigned to assist the PSB SPC in implementing specific projects identified for 2019. The main tasks will be as follows:

  • Verifying and clearing the supplier-specific technical specifications of the items.

  • Liaising with the Long-term suppliers of UNFPA to confirm the technical specifications of the items in cooperation with UNFPA Quality Assurance Team.

  • Assisting the upload of 1,700 items to UNFPA ERP and UNFPA catalog in cooperation with UNFPA IT Team.

  • Validating of the accuracy of the uploaded information to UNFPA ERP and UNFPA catalog.

  • Assisting with other important tasks connected with the work and the deliverables of the PSB SPC.

  • Preparing reports and statistics, if needed.

  • Assisting with special projects which the team initiates as well as some limited involvement in administrative tasks such as preparing meeting minutes, etc.

Working time: 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English is required. English is the working language at PSB;
  • Completion of secondary education;
  • University Student of business, economics, marketing, international development, communication, computer science, medicines or other relevant field;
  • Interest in development issues;
  • Good computer knowledge:

  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office and other software applications;

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel is required.

  • Service minded and excellent communication skills – both written and oral;

  • Positive attitude and a good team player;

  • Ability to work independently (required supervision will be provided).

Interns do not receive a salary or any other form of remuneration from UNFPA. The costs associated with an intern's participation in the programme must be assumed either by the nominating institution, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students, or by the students themselves, who will have to meet living expenses as well as make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and other requirements. In addition, applicants must have medical insurance for the duration of the internship. Proof of insurance will need to be submitted before the internship begins.
