Organizational Setting**

The Prequalification Associate is responsible for assisting in the implementation of a WHO/UNFPA prequalification programme for condoms and intra uterine devices (IUDs). You will coordinate technical assessments, inspections and meetings for the programme.

You will report directly to the Technical Analyst*.*

Job Purpose:

You will assist in implementing a sound and robust prequalification programme for condoms and intra-uterine devices. And you will support UNFPA efforts on global harmonization of technical specifications, evaluation and continuous quality compliance monitoring of condoms and IUDs.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

You would be responsible for:

  1. Support the UNFPA/WHO pre-qualification schemes

  2. Provide coordination of UNFPA/WHO pre-qualification schemes for male condoms (including, but not limited to: coordinate submissions, arrange travel, organise corrective action follow-up and status of each submission).

  3. Provide updates on the progress on clinical evaluation of the various condoms and IUDs designs

  4. Provide mapping of various designs, manufacturers and advocacy and promotional strategies for male condoms

  5. Identify quality control laboratories for testing male condoms and lubricants

  6. Assist in the development and drafting of relevant SOPs

  7. Support the management of complaints and maintain a complete and current complaint log

  8. Support implementation of the WHO/UNFPA Risk management plan

  9. Development of guidelines and UNFPA PSB tools

  10. Perform background research on new innovations, product use and programme issues that impact product development

  11. Provide administrative support for the drafting and development of Quality Assurance technical documents.

  12. Assist in supporting Quality Assurance team with any quality assurance and technical issues on procurement of female and male condoms and copper IUDs (pre-shipment and post-shipment reports)

  13. Strengthen the condom and IUD Quality Assurance programme of UNFPA

  14. Assist in providing reports on programme implementation

  15. Administrative Support and Coordination of Condom and IUD prequalification.

  16. Coordinate regional and in-country laboratory and regulatory authority workshops

  17. Provide procurement services for Quality Assurance activities using the UNFPA ERP system (PeopleSoft-Atlas)

  18. Provide administrative support for manufacturers and stakeholders meeting

  19. Coordinate logistics (e.g. meetings arrangements, travel etc.) for participants in meetings and Workshops

  20. Coordinate manufacturers and stakeholders meeting on quality assurance of condoms, lubricants and IUDs.

  21. Provide administrative support for capacity building workshops

  22. Assist in drafting annual reports for the programme

  23. Support innovation in Prequalification

  24. Research and coordinate activities involving innovative Reproductive Health (RH) contraceptives to add to UNFPA’s product portfolio

  25. Contribute to the creation and sharing of knowledge in implementing innovative approaches to WHO/UNFPA Prequalification activities

  26. Development and updating of standard operating procedures to ensure compliance of prequalification activities with harmonised UN Prequalification activities

Carry out any other duties as may be required by UNFPA leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

Education: Completion of Secondary education is required.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years of related work experience in quality assurance or quality control of condoms, or sterile health products or regulatory authority experience of medical devices / health products or health technologies is required. Note that an Advanced University degree (or equivalent: i.e. CPA, ACCA, Jurist Doctor, etc.) in Public Health, Pharmaceutical, Chemistry, Health care, Public and Business Administration in combination with 4 years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of 6 years of experience.
  • Proven analytical and technical knowledge of reproductive health products is a strong advantage
  • Knowledge of reproductive health commodities and medical terminology is a strong advantage
  • Experience in coordination of workshops is desirable

Languages:

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other official UN languages, preferably French and/or Spanish, is desirable.
