Further to the Call for the UNFPA Global Emergency Roster, UNFPA is specifically committed to scale up its humanitarian response and increase organizational capacity to prevent and respond to gender-based violence in emergencies. To support this organizational need, UNFPA is focusing on building capacity of the GBV practioners to ensure UNFPA has access to enough qualified individuals to deploy for short-term GBViE assignments*.* In this context, UNFPA is currently inviting experienced junior/mid-level external GBV practitioners (whom would like to be considered for registration in the UNFPA emergency roster) or those who are registered on UNFPA’s Standby Partner rosters, to be considered for a capacity building programme. UNFPA is looking for those skilled in the following areas:
GBV PROGRAMME MANAGER Facilitates the implementation of UNFPA’s GBV programming in a humanitarian emergency. GBV programming in humanitarian emergencies is multi-sectoral and involves organizations and actors from the displaced and host communities, NGO and government implementing partners, UN agencies, and other national and international organizations that engage in comprehensive prevention and response initiatives.
GBV COORDINATOR Facilitates and coordinates the rapid implementation of multi-sectoral, inter-agency GBV interventions in a humanitarian emergency. Builds and sustains partnerships, engages in strategic planning, capacity development, advocacy, and information management.
GBV INFORMATION MANAGEMENT OFFICER Maintains, strengthens, leads and manages the GBV Sub-Cluster Information Management function. Engaging in robust analyses of available secondary data; consolidating existing assessments and findings; promoting assessments on the GBV situation and/or work with relevant agencies, the displaced and host populations to conduct relevant participatory analyses of GBV; and mapping current institutional response capacities.
GBV INTERPRETER/CULTURAL MEDIATOR (Cultural-Linguistic Mediator) Assists the delivery of humanitarian services, especially gynaecological check-ups, maternal care and reproductive health services, medical and psycho-social support services to GBV survivors, through gender-sensitive and competent interpretation services (consecutive interpreter and written translation), as well as in the form of advice to humanitarian officers to better understand and address cultural diversity among beneficiaries.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete an E-learning course, attend a 6 day in-person training and assessment (UNFPA will cover travel and accommodation costs). Candidates who successfully complete the learning/training and are technically cleared by the attending assessors during the in-person training will be added to the emergency roster for recruitment of an emergency surge capacity assignment.
