: Gender-Based Violence Information Management Consultant

OVERVIEW
The Gender-Based Violence Information Management System (GBVIMS) Consultant will support data collection, consolidation and production of a 10-year anniversary report and related communications materials for the GBVIMS initiative.

Based within the GBV Team of UNFPA’s Humanitarian and Fragile Contexts Branch (Programme Division) and reporting directly to HFCB’s GBV Information Management Specialist, the Consultant will work closely with the GBVIMS Technical Team and Steering Committee on all project outputs. The Consultant will engage country-level colleagues to collect and verify data to ensure all products reflect field realities. The Consultant will engage closely with UNFPA colleagues in the Medial and Communications Branch to ensure products produced are accessible and visually pleasing to as wide an audience as possible.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working with the GBVIMS Technical Team:

  • Draft and/or refine the GBVIMS 10-Year Anniversary Report. The report should be comprehensive and should include the following sections: i) background and introduction; ii) abbreviated history; iii) information on how the GBVIMS works; iv) the impact of the GBVIMS; v) GBVIMS data; vi) trends and patterns emerging from GBVIMS data; and vii ) the future of the GBVIMS.
  • Liaise with country offices to vet data and narrative sections if required.
  • Develop data visualisation products.
  • Collect stories and quotes through interviews with field and global actors on how GBVIMS is used to promote better programming.
  • Work with UNFPA MCB colleagues to develop other relevant communication products (e.g. a short video, flyers, infographics, etc.). Liaise with a design company as required.)

  • QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES:
  • ● Advanced University Degree or equivalent in communications, gender studies, social anthropology, law and women’s rights, sociology, cultural studies, public health, demography, socio-economics, or other field directly related to the substantive area identified in the title of the consultancy.
    ● Demonstrated understanding of humanitarian contexts.
    ● Demonstrated understanding of GBV programming.
    ● Demonstrated knowledge of safe and ethical principles of GBV information management.
    ● Familiarity with the GBVIMS.
    ● Excellent English writing skills.
    ● Experience producing communications materials on complex concepts or ideas.
    ● Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of French is desirable.
