Major duties and responsibilities
Working in the Humanitarian & Fragile Contexts Branch within the Programme Division, under the supervision of the Programme Officer/information management, the intern will provide support to the collection, analysis, and communication of humanitarian results.

Overall duties:

  1. Supporting the development and improvement of the Data Collection Tool for all emergency countries, with focus on quality assurance
  2. Drafting and designing two-pager Country Fact Sheets for all emergency countries, for advocacy and communication of results to our donors and partners
  3. Drafting Situation Reports for the Humanitarian Steering Committee to keep them informed at the onset of an emergency and UNFPA’s rapid response thereof
  4. Supporting the development of printed and online content, including the Humanitarian Newsletter
  5. Organizing humanitarian communication documentation including archiving
  6. Undertake any other duties as requested by supervisor

Qualifications
● Academic background and knowledge in areas such as information management, communications, data analytics, graphic design, or journalism/media
● Experience in communications and working in international environment
● Fluency in English, working knowledge of another UN language desirable
● Knowledge and experience with Google Drive (google docs, sheets), data visualisation, and online design
● Ability to think and work logically with attention to detail
● Ability to write clearly and concisely
● Initiative, sound judgment and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members of different national and cultural backgrounds

● Increased knowledge of humanitarian operations in an international environment
● Increased knowledge of issues related to population and development, sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence
● Meeting and networking with UNFPA colleagues in other units
